The Prophetic Gospel of Tupac Shakur: Daniel White Hodge

The Prophetic Gospel of Tupac Shakur: Daniel White Hodge

Professor Daniel White Hodge returns to Things Not Seen to discuss the legacy of Tupac Amaru Shakur, not only as a cultural icon, but as a figure who was deeply engaged in religious and theological reflection about the late 20th century American context.

We discuss his book, Baptized in Dirty Water: Reimagining the Gospel According to Tupac Amaru Shakur.

In this episode, we pick up on the conversation that began in 2018, where Dr. White Hodge spoke to our listeners about the Hip-Hop mission of the church.

Daniel White Hodge is Associate Professor of Intercultural Communications and Department Chair of Communication Arts at North Park University in Chicago. His research interests are the intersections of faith, Hip Hop culture, race/ethnicity, and young adult emerging generations. His latest publications are Hip Hop's Hostile Gospel: A Post Soul Theological Exploration (2017) and Homeland Insecurity: A Hip Hop Missiology for the Post-Civil Rights Context (2018)
